My Birthday Makeup

Ok first of all sorry for the lack of posts over the past week! The time just got away from me and then I literally went away, but I promise I have some good content coming your way!

This is the makeup I wore in the evening on my birthday. Having gone ice skating during the day I went for dinner with my parents at Six at The Varsity Hotel (find them here) and then went out for drinks and dancing with the girls. I like to do a bit more makeup for a special occasion so on my birthday I went for a slightly smoked sparkly eye (try saying that 3 times fast!) and a nude lip.

Starting with the base...

I used the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, which I love. Its a water based foundation so is really dewy and offers quite a high coverage whilst still looking natural. I concealed under my eyes using my trusty Collection Lasting Perfection concealer and blended it all with the Double Ended Sponge from Sephora (I could only find a link where it came in a set but you get the idea).

Then I used a few products so I didn't look like Casper the friendly ghost...

First I powdered where there was concealer to set it all, using the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder. Adding some colour to my pale winter face I used my favorite Bourjois Chocolate Box Bronzer . I'm not usually one for blush because I have so much natural redness but since this foundation has such full coverage I felt like I needed a bit of colour in my cheeks. I used the NYX Baked Blush in the colour Ladylike. I like this because its not overly pigmented and the shimmer gives a nice glow to the skin. Then for highlight of course! I used the MAC Strobe Cream  which I have a mini of from an Estee Lauder bag of makeup goodies which I bought in the summer.

On my brows...

I used my trusty combo from Fleur de Force X Eyleure, using the pencil  and gel. Also sorry for the terrible state of my nails in this photo but between rowing and work even if I did do them it wouldn't last very long!

For my eyes I went a bit all out...

I love a sparkly eye for a special occasion, it feels too much for everyday but I can definitely justify it for a night out. For my base I used the Bobbi Brown Long-wear Cream Shadow Stick in the colour Golden Pink, which I again have a mini of from my goody bag. I rediscovered this recently and its so great, really nice colour payoff, easily blendable and just so damn shiny!! To smoke it out I used a colour form the Marc Jacobs Lolita palette, which I think they've discontinued which is such a shame because the colours are so gorgeous, but there are some new palettes which look really nice, in particular Scandalust and Glambition . I used the dark brown colour to blend. I then used the Soap and Glory Supercat liquid eyeliner, not to do a flick but just to give my eyes a bit more definition. Finally I used the MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Mascara (what a name!) which isn't my favorite as it doesn't last that well and is a bit gloopy but is quite good for dramatic effect on a night out!

Finally on my lips...

I used the Fleur de Force's lipstick for MAC, which is literally the perfect nude colour. Unfortunately it was limited edition but any nude would do.

And here's and embarrassing photo of what it looked like on my face:
