All my ladies...

It,s International Women's Day tomorrow. So I thought I'd take this as an opportunity to write a bit of a love letter to all the amazing women in my life. Of course, there are some great men in my life too, but since this has been such an amazing year for women supporting women I thought I'd do my bit and give a shout out to female friendship. PS i hope you enjoyed that photo album of my gorgeous and hilarious friends!

My Mum
I feel very fortunate to have a mother who is, in so many ways, also my friend. She is my biggest supporter and cheerleader, the person I tell everything to, and I trust her opinion always.

My aunt Frances
There aren't many women in my family admittedly, so there's a slight feeling of us girls having to stick together. I've gone to stay with my aunt Frances since I was little and we always have adventures together, shopping and going to galleries. Eating delicious food and staying up too late watching movies. She is my gal pal and someone who I aspire to be like.

My oldest pals
I have to say, most of my best friends have been my friends for a very long time. They are the people who know somethings wrong without you having to say anything, those who know me better than I know myself. Some highlights of me and my oldest, but not necessarily wisest friends:
Girl gaggle expeditions
Alice, Emma, Fizzy and I have been great friends since we were 4. We did ballet together as children and then we'd go back to someone's house. We used to meet up at Emma's and dance to the 'Wicked' soundtrack. I remember even then it was hard for us to organize getting together all four of us back then but now days is nigh-on impossible. So, last summer when we went to stay with Fizzy's parents in Switzerland it was like being a child again. Giggling and getting lost, going on adventures and staying up late.
Nessa
My sistah from another mistah! I've known Ness from before we even went to school, we met on Halloween when we were 3, it helps that we've lived down the road from each other our entire lives. She is like my sister in so many ways and I love her dearly. We used to go to her house and steal the sweetie tin, hide in the bathroom and try and eat them all. Once we needed a pen and her parents were out so we climbed in the bathroom window on the first floor. Last winter we went to the Caribbean on the most amazing holiday I've ever been on.
Darcelle
Another bestie from Kings, Darcy and I have been close for years. We've had some great drunken nights out together, as well as many happy days. She is a kind young woman now, which is funny as I've always had to tell her 'If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all'!
Rox
Rox and I never really got close until we went to secondary school, but since then we've been thick as thieves. My partner in crime and someone I confide everything in. I cannot wait until our big adventures to come. I miss her terribly, she's away doing a ski season, only a month and a half until I can have my friend back! And then we will be joined at the hip for 2 months traveling around Asia! I can't wait

I have too many stories to tell about the women who are my friends. Watching 'Barbie's Life int he Dreamhouse' with Becca, giggling through chapel services with Lois. My teacher who I now consider a friend who gives the best and kindest advice and my brother's girlfriend who I think of as an honorary sister.  There are so many others who I don't have room to mention!

Let's make it our mission to build up the women around us. And to all my gals, I love you, thank you for it all!

xx
