Time's Up

It's that time of year again, yes that thing that effects all our lives so much, Hollywood Awards Season! Ok, that might have been a bit sarcastic. Just a bit. And unless you've been living under a rock you will have realized that the award season this year is a bit different. After the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke, which you can read my thoughts on here, women in Hollywood decided to make a stand and show their solidarity with victims of sexual assault and abuse and prove that time is up for this type of behavior.

And don't get me wrong, this is great. Honestly, when I first saw this it felt like a real fist pumping ya-ya sisterhood moment. But if you look into it a bit closer, how are these few select, and lets face it highly privileged, women wearing black actually amounting to change? The cracks really begin to show, such as in James Franco, who wore a Time's Up pin and black to the Golden Globes, despite currently being accused by several different women of sexual assault.

I suppose what I'm saying is, yes, wear black for all it symbolizes. But don't just jump on the band wagon because some very glamorous and attractive Hollywood stars are saying its what you should be doing.  Make a change. Donate to a cause which supports victims of sexual assault, Mind has a really good page on finding support after sexual abuse, find it here.

So, lets's make a change.

PS, if you only watch one speech from the Women's March 2018, watch this by Halsey. It honestly spoke to me so significantly because it rings SO many bells. This should NOT be normal.
