Commuter life, my renewed love of the weekend

Ok, I might be a bit late to the party with this, but I bloody love weekends.

It's been a long time since I've had proper weekends in my life. I went to a boarding school, which meant we had school every Saturday and chapel on one Sunday a month.  I know to anyone who hasn't lived this life, it sounds pretty extreme, but you do get used to it, and it makes Sunday feel like a real luxury. Since I've graduated from school I was working in a bar and restaurant, which largely meant that the weekend was the busiest part of the week. But, I've just started an internship in London, which means for the first time in a long time I'm working a 9-5, and I have a proper weekend.

And, I have to tell you, what a luxury! I got the train home on Friday evening, my aunt and uncle has very generously been putting me up in London through the week, and was home in time for dinner and watching TV in front of the fire, cuddling up with the cats.

On Saturday I got up early and went to the travel agent to look at flights for Roxy and my wild adventures! After I returned home and got back into bed (!), I met Alice in town. We went to Bread & Meat for a cup of tea and a brownie. I might do a proper blog post on this another time because they do amazing sandwiches and a whole host of brownie flavors (I had Oreo and Alice had Chocolate Orange). She was looking gorgeous and I tired to get a good picture, but she was a bit too...animated

Rather randomly, after this we decided to go and get our ears pierced and toddled off to Claire's! This type of spontaneity is not really like me, but I'd wanted my second piercings for ages and am really happy with the result.

I'm writing this listening to Dessert Island Discs, so I thought I'd list some of my favorite things about a Sunday morning at home.

1, Being woken up by the cats settling down for their morning nap on my bed
2, Not having to set an alarm
3, Pancakes for breakfast whilst reading to food supplement from the Sunday paper
4, Th Archers Omnibus playing in the kitchen
5, Having a bath with a cup of tea

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!
