Off to see the world

Hello hello!

Sorry for the radio silence, my head has been totally elsewhere this past month or so!

So big news! Tomorrow Roxy and I leave for our grand Gap Year adventure. The first stop is Japan for 3 weeks before we head on to China and then Thailand. I am going to try and take pictures and upload a blog post as and when I can but honestly I don't know how my access to a computer will be as there is no way I am lugging my super heavy laptop around half of Asia. But anyway I will try and keep posting.

I have to admit, I don't really know how I feel about going away, it all feels a bit surreal! I know we're only going for two months which isn't really any time at all and will probably fly by, but I don't think I've ever been away from home for that stretch of time before and especially not without my family. Such a massive amount of my anxiety is based around not being at home so I really don't know how I feel about doing this. I always knew that on this year off I would need to make myself go outside of my comfort zone and by going away for a bit, because apart from anything else, if I didn't then going away to uni would send me into an anxious tailspin.  The fact that I haven't been away from home even for a weekend in ages isn't helping either! You see this is the thing, I am struggling to view this amazing two months, which I have worked so hard to earn the money for, as a holiday.

So, tonight is my last night at home and I'm going to enjoy it. We should all push ourselves outside our comfort zones, and I know this will make me grow as a person. I also know that we're going to have an amazing time because I'm going to have a 2 month adventure with one of my best friends in the whole world. I remember when we decided to take gap years in the winter of last year when we were bogged down by revision and stress. We could both take a year off and go travelling together! And damn it, that's what we're going to do.

So, I'll try and keep you posted, see you in July if not before! If anyone's in Japan/China/Thailand over the next 2 months drop me a comment and maybe we can meet up!

xxx
